Do you know the name of this book?
I am looking for one of my favorite books in elementary school. Its like an old folk cinderella story.
Sweet girl with cruel sisters meets this old lady who takes her to her strange farm. She does everything the old lady says and is rewarded with eggs that she tosses over her shoulder and the turn into treasure and dresses etc.... Her mean sisters find out and go to the old lady's cabin, they don't obey her rules and then they take the pretty eggs ( that the old lady said not to touch, they were supposed to take to plain eggs ) and toss them over their shoulders and they turn into monsters!
Does this sound familiar????
Other clues: The characters are black, the girls all dream of what they call dresses with train tracks on them, the old lady has three headed chickens on her farm, they met at a well while the girl was fetching water for her mean mother and sisters.
